Lee Kuan Yong is a Chartered Accountant (“CPA”) and a life member of ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales).

Following are the highlights of Lee’s education and work experience:

1975-78 Manchester University, England where he obtained a B.Sc (Hons) in Computer Science & Accounting.

1978-82 Worked with Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) in London, England where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (“CPA”) in 1981. Lee was transferred to KPMG’s office in Toronto, Canada in 1982 (after having lived, studied and worked in England for 7 years).

1982-92 Lee lived in Canada where he also worked for Manulife in Toronto, and posted to Hong Kong in 1985-88 as Manulife’s Asia-Pacific regional financial controller (covering Hong Kong, Philippines and Indonesia).

1992-95 Group Deputy Financial Controller for a public-listed plantation and real estate development conglomerate in Malaysia.

1996-2016 Finance Director (CFO) for 20 years of a private real estate developer company in Malaysia. During the 20 years as CFO, the company’s net assets grew 10 times from US$10 million to US$100 million, and the staff from 5 to over 100.

Lee retired from full-time employment in 2016 and is currently a non-executive director in several family-owned companies in Malaysia.
Lee is married to Kon Cze Yan who is also a Chartered Accountant (“CPA”), and has 2 adult sons and a grandson.
